TEST: "Far better than other camping aerials we have tested"A UFO on the roof does the trick……The Danish magazine “Camping guide” has tested the UFO aerial in Denmark, Italy, Germany and Austria. Here is the conclusion.
In March we bought a UFO digital aerial from Sat-Com Teknik in Haderslev, Denmark.
We mounted the UFO ourselves. The aerial was to be put to the test during our Easter holiday to the Garda Lake.
The first night
Camping Scandinavia 75 km south of Hamburg. Our Phillips DVB-T Set Top Box was set to scan programs, and you bet it scanned. 37 digital programs slid crystal clear into our television, among them many programs we were not able to watch when we stayed at Camping Scandinavia last summer. Of course, the reason may be that now more German digital programs are on the air, but anyway it was a promising test run.
The second night
Tenda Camping, south of Munich close to the Austrian border. Here we found 27 programs, German as well as Austrian.
The third day
Safely arrived at our destination, Camping Maroadi-Torbole at the northern end of the Garda Lake, we scanned 11 programs. Unfortunately, 5 of the programs were encrypted (PPV channels), which only left 6 which on the other hand appeared clearly on the telly. Moreover, the Italians broadcast BBC-World digitally - wonderful to have an English-language program, as we do not excel in Italian.
In the 15 years we have been camping at the Garda Lake, we have almost only seen programs with snow and disturbance, but one of the wonders of the new digital broadcasting system is that during scanning the Set Top Box simply counts out the signals which are not strong enough. Analoguely, we can watch the programs we always have been able to watch, but here the UFO is directional even if Sat-Com says something else. We also use the UFO for our fixed car radio, and here the UFO works perfectly.
The UFO digital aerial is a really good buy, though the price of DKK 998 is not low-end compared to other camping aerials on the market, but it is absolutely value for money. The UFO is small and compact, does not weight much, attractive design, and what is more - it works just fantastically.
Conclusion of the Camping Guide
A UFO on the roof does the trick - far better than other camping aerials we have tested.
